"The Sweet Life" Baking Contest:

Come enjoy the sweeteer things in life.................... literally.  Let's face it...times are tough these days.  We here at North Branch have a saying...."When the going gets tough, the tough get baking."  After all, "nothin' says lovin' like somethin' from the oven", right?  So, break out your mixing bowls and wooden spoons and show us what you can do!

The North Branch Baking Contest will be held in a tent inside the Concert Area on friday's North Branch Field Day, beginning at 2 pm.  It will be on the left when you are facing the Main Stage.  Contestants will register their entries for blind judging.

This contest is purely for fun, cheap prizes, and bragging rights with hopefully one really good prize for best of show.  There will be five divisions....Pies, Cakes, Cookies, Candy, and Open Dessert.  Participants will be asked to make a one dollar donation per division entry.  This will be used to help defray some of the cost of plates, napkins, utensils, and prize money.  Contestants entering 3 or more divisions will not be required to pay an entry fee.

Entries should contain plenty of food to share. Examples: a batch of cookies, a whole pie, a whole cake, etc...  We will be giving away baking contest sweets for free during the evening's Open Stage time.

North Branch Bluegrass Festival would like to have a copy of your recipe, if you're willing.  Your entry will not be affected if you do not wish to share your recipe.  This is all about fun.

Judging will begin at 3 pm.  Announcement of winners and presentation of prizes  will be at 4 pm.  Julie Lane, local professional pastry chef, and other foodies will select prize winners in all five divisions who will receive prizes.  They will also select a "Best of Show" winner from among those five to receive a special top prize.
